Overview

Retina Consultants of Texas (RCTX) is seeking a motivated individual who will serve as our Director of Clinical Operations for our Houston Market. The Director of Clinical Operations leads the clinic (non-research) operations organization to achieve operational efficiency and excellence across all spectrums of clinic operations. The Director of Clinical Operations works within the clinic to develop business strategies, manage budgets, and oversee day-to-day operations of the clinic while promoting a positive work environment. The Director of Clinical Operations reports directly to the Chief Operating Officer.

All Retina Consultants of Texas physicians are board-certified by the American Board of Ophthalmology and specialize exclusively in diseases and surgery of the retina, vitreous and macula. In addition, RCTX has both uveitis and ocular oncology specialty divisions, which focus on inflammation and cancer treatments of the eye. Responsibilities

 

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Provides leadership and support for the clinic office staff and physicians in an outpatient Retina Clinic
  • Responsible for all clinic operations in the Houston and surrounding areas clinics to include physician relations, on-call, and surgical operations.
  • Provides leadership and management to maximize operational excellence and patient and referring physician satisfaction.
  • Effectively partners with Retina Consultants of Texas Leadership team to identify and build strategic continuous process improvement in the clinical operations business.
  • Strategically drives improvements to clinic operations to include staff cohesiveness, communication, and training in conjunction with patient satisfaction.
  • Partners with other business leaders in the practice to ensure world class patient care and address any clinic workflow or patient satisfaction opportunities
  • Considers manpower and practice needs, including facilities and technology.
  • Actively partners with Human Resources to assess and recruit for current and future staffing needs
  • Develops and implement policies, procedures, and best practices as needed to support clinic goals and outcomes. 
  • Evaluates general and specific clinical business conditions as they relate to operational issues.
  • Monitors, analyzes, assesses, and communicates clinic progress to Leader and Physicians on a regular basis. 
  • Prepares routine reports as needed or required in conjunction with shared service business owners.
  • Provides personnel with clinical training and opportunities for continuous development
  • Develops and established career progression programs to target retention of top talent
  • Leads the performance management process in accordance with the company’s annual review process
  • Ensure compliance and adherence to the organization's structure, management philosophy, and mission statements.
  • Interprets rules, regulations, and policies and executes as they relate to all aspects of the practice.
  • Ensure compliance with Federal and State employment regulations, OSHA, and labor laws as directed by the Human Resources department.
  • Assures compliance with laboratory regulations, HIPAA, OSHA, and other regulatory bodies in clinic.
  • Assists the real estate team with real estate projects as the practice grows
  • Travels from clinic to clinic within the assigned geographic area
  • May partner in other business areas as needed to support organizational growth.

 

Skills/Competencies:

  • Ability to develop and lead projects and teams
  • Working knowledge of financial and/or procurement activities
  • Working knowledge of clinic operations and patient care
  • Working knowledge of regulations, HIPAA, and OSHA regulations
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills

Qualifications

Education Requirements

  • Bachelors Degree Required
  • Masters Degree preferred

 

Experience Requirements:

  • Management: 5+ years (Preferred)
  • Relevant experience in a related medical setting as a leader, preferred
  • Two (2) years experience in health care, preferably in an outpatient setting, with supervisory experience.

 

Physical Abilities:

  • Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
  • Must be able to navigate through the clinic and office areas
  • Prolonged work on computer screens
